Leaders may be familiar with the terms diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as they dominated corporate talking points and headlines following the events of 2020. But where does the rubber meet the road and how do we push the needle in DEI efforts?

As the Director of Employee Development and Engagement at Olive, Chase McCants says it begins with acceptance. He'd be the first to tell you he's not your typical HR guy and the ability to be who he is at work is what attracted him to the startup environment. He also believes that startups are more apt to measure employee value by the quality of work they produce and they simply don't have the time (or desire) to regulate how their employees look. 

In this episode, Chase will share how that levels the playing field and encourages employees to lead from where they are. John and Chase also talk about starting a new job in a pandemic, how to engage employees in a remote work environment, and how Chase's career has informed his outlook as a leader.
